"Semana de Diarrhea" or Diarrhea Week

Recently, the Health Center celebrated Diarrhea Week. While families waited to be attended by the doctor, nurses gave presentations regarding causes of diarrhea (like bacteria, virus, fungus, parasites, and poor hygiene), diarrhea treatment, and ways to prevent diarrhea, including hygienic food preparation and proper hand washing. The nurses also described what can happen if diarrhea is left untreated, including malnutrition and dehydration, and handed out informational material. These presentations were well received by families, who asked questions and listened intently. Families in attendance were given a coupon for a free stool analysis test, though only a few collected their free test.

Photo 2: One of the promotional materials that were handed out.  This says "Wash your hands with water and soal, and take care of yourself this way"

What am I doing here?

Here is a link to my Facebook photo album where I'm adding a photo for each day with some explanation:

A Bolivian Bus Ride

In Cochabamba, Bolivia.  I arrived here in Cochabamba a couple weeks ago via bus from La Paz.  Some friends I met on the ride made this video to summarize the trip... enjoy! Thanks, Peter and Paul!
